About Lakeshore Elderly Care
Lakeshore Elderly Care, LLC offers support to you and your loved one by providing a list of personalized long-term senior care options designed to fit your individual needs.
Our Mission
We offer support to older adults and those that care for them by helping them find the best long-term care options allowing them to live their best, most comfortable lives.
Lakeshore Elderly Care, LLC was created out of a strong desire for helping adults with aging loved ones, and older adults themselves, to minimize the overwhelming nature of finding care- often with little time to do necessary research to find the right next place. Our goal is to help your loved one find the right place to live their best, most comfortable life and eliminate “I wish I would have known” from the equation.

We at Lakeshore Elderly Care, LLC have toured most independent living, assisted living, memory care, and long-term care communities, and met with many in-home care companies in the West Michigan area. We have made connections with the staff at each so that we can easily set up tours, understand availability, and make recommendations based on your personal, individual needs to ensure the best possible care for your loved one.

We understand the demands of raising a family, managing a career, and helping to care for an aging loved one. We also understand the struggles older adults face when they need to make care decisions for a spouse now facing a cognitive disease that makes caring for them alone at home now too difficult. Our commitment is to help find the next right place for you or your loved one.
Meet your Primary Advisor: Jen Koffman
Growing up, I had the privilege of spending a lot of time in the summer with my grandparents on their farm. As a result, I developed a fierce love for the elderly early on. When I was in high school, I was a “candy striper” in a long-term care facility. Volunteering became a big part of my life and I currently serve as a hospice volunteer in the Grand Rapids area. Being a hospice volunteer was a calling after my mom passed away in my late 30s. My siblings and I had to decide on care when end of life became apparent.
Once we decided to take our mom home, we had to choose a hospice agency- with absolutely no one to guide us. What is the difference between the agencies? What do they offer? How often do they come? Do they have services to help the families caring for their loved one? How much does this cost? The list of questions was endless. However, with very little time to do the proper research to ensure my mom was getting the best care, we chose based on what little my mom’s nurse knew about the options. We took my mom home with only four hours of support each week. That meant my siblings and I rotated taking care of her- I lived two hours away with my husband and two young children and a full-time career. Although I feel so very lucky to have had that time with my mom, “I wish I would have known” is a tough one to live with even knowing we did the best we could to ensure my mom was comfortable.

My story is not unique, but can have a different outcome without “I wish I would have known” being a part of the story. Having been in the corporate environment for the last 17 years, I felt it was time to combine my personal and professional experiences with my passion to help others going through something similar to what I went through. Grand Rapids Elderly Care, LLC was created because there are many adults that are in the midst of their careers, raising their families and then unexpectedly face the need to make an urgent decision on a loved one’s care with no knowledge of what is available and no time to figure it out. With over 60 senior care communities and in-home care companies in the greater Grand Rapids area, choosing the right fit can be very overwhelming and certainly time consuming especially when you don’t know where to start.

By allowing us to be a small part of your journey, we can help you narrow down your options so that you can feel confident you are making the best decision for your loved one. We are here to help, and we look forward to helping “I wish I would have known” not be part of your story.
